About MCFI
How did the Idea come?
Once a dynamic student leader Qazi Abdul Qadeer Khamosh had friendly relations with deceased Saddam Hussain, the then President of Republic of Iraq. Mr. Khamosh had also the honor of working with Saddam Hussain’s close aid and Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq Tariq Aziz (himself a Christian), the then Chairman of ‘Baghdad Conference’, a forum constituted for human service beyond all biases of religion, language and creed, with its secretariat in Baghdad. Mr. Khamosh was an active member out of 80-members ‘Coordination and Follow-up Committee’ of Baghdad Conference.
During different sessions of the Baghdad Conference, it was emphasized that the gap between the Muslim and the Christian communities, both making majority of the world population should be bridged to bring peace and prosperity in the world. After a detailed discussion, it was decided that scholars, parliamentarians, and social leaders from Muslim and Christian communities be contacted to have dialogue for peace and mutual understanding.
Qazi Abdul Qadeer Khamosh during political struggle for restoration of democracy in letter and spirit came close to National Christian Party Pakistan Secretary General Joseph Francis and discussed the idea to bring the Christian and the Muslim communities closer for national prosperity and religious harmony. Then the MCFI was given a final shape after consulting Bishop of Raiwind Dioceses, Waris Road, Lahore, Bishop Samuel Robert Azariah.
We believe in the creation of a strong and healthy bonded Christian-Muslim community in every country where followers of these two faiths live to further cause international peace and stability.
Our OBJECTIVES
- To respect one another’s point of view and to work together for common causes of development and peace.
- To create awareness amongst members of both faiths that Islam and Christianity need to work together. Trust needs to be developed amongst the two communities in Pakistan and across the world.
- To establish confidence amongst the authorities and the administration of our total support and cooperation in curbing/controlling violence of any kind amongst the Muslims and the Christians.
- To struggle for equal rights of all citizens of the world and to fight against all rules and systems, which give rise or suspicions to denomination of any religious or political nature.
- To jointly struggle against poverty, illiteracy and hunger in our society.
- To encourage and form such groups of fellowship of both Muslims and Christians throughout the world.
- To organize and celebrate jointly each other’s religious festivities.
- To respect the religious sentiments of each other.
- To review and suggest alternatives to all those factors creating sectarianism or conflict, especially to reflect on the educational system in the world.
