M.C.F.I

PRACTICAL STEPS

After coming into being in 2000, the Muslim Christian Federation International (MCFI) under the leadership of Qazi Abdul Qadeer Khamosh and Bishop Samuel Azariah is working for interfaith dialogue at national and international levels. The Federation started a series of interfaith seminars and conferences to shape up public opinion in favor of peaceful living with followers of other religions with different point-of-view.
A series of the seminar were held. One was “INTERNATIONAL PEACE AND ROLE OF RELIGION” and the other was “INTERFAITH DIALOGUE: HOPE FOR HUMANITY”.

The Federation organized hundreds of seminars and conferences in main cities of Pakistan, and out of Pakistan in United Kingdom, Nepal, France, Jordan, Netherland and United States of America to bring people of different faiths closer for peace and love in the society. Dr. Rawan William Archbishop of Canterbury, ICRD President Dr. Douglas M. Johnston, former Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, World Council of Churches Secretary General, Chairman Sikh Council of USA Washington Dr. Rajwant Singh, Norwegian Ambassador to Islamabad Janis Bjorg Kanavin, Holland’s Minister for Human Rights, Pite D. Clork, Member National Assembly of Palestine Mamoon Al-Tameemi, ICRD’s Director Syed Azhar Hussain, World Muslim Congress Secretary General Raja Zafarul Haque, Alliance for Restoration of Democracy Chairman Makhdoom Amin Faheem, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Chairperson Asma Jehangir, I A Rehman and other prominent leaders of political and religious parties addressed these seminars. This has brought a positive change in the behavior of the communities that caused a new phase of friendship and love.
The holding of the seminars in different cities of Pakistan and other parts of the world is in process and this will continue in future as well.
The MCFI also reacts on issues of the interfaith importance through media conferences and statements. We immediately reacted to Pope Benedict’s remarks against Islam and conversion threats to Christian families of Charsaddah of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The Muslim and Christian leaders resolved community conflicts in Francis Colony, Gujranwala.
